“The Goldstone Syndrome Inverts Justice, Turning the Victim into the Perpetrator Already Sentenced Before Proceedings Begin.”

Paris, 2 June 2010

In a letter to the United Nations Human Rights Commissioner, Navi Pillay, the Simon Wiesenthal Centre’s Director for International Relations, Dr.Shimon Samuels, stated:

“Madam High Commissioner,

Your office is a Palace named for American President, Woodrow Wilson, who believed his post World War I settlement would make it “a war to end all wars” – a settlement that included “a Jewish national home” in that ancestral land, then known as Palestine.

Paris, 30 May 2010

The Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Director for International Relations, Dr.Shimon Samuels, expressed solidarity with Sammy Ghozlan, President of the Bureau National contre l’Antisemitisme (BNVCA, French National Bureau Against Antisemitism).

Former Police Inspector, Ghozlan’s personal car was parked in his home garage, and burned last week – in the early hours of the morning – in what police have termed “a criminal act of voluntary arson”.

Samuels noted that “the Simon Wiesenthal Centre had supported the BNVCA, since its establishment by Ghozlan, following the spike in antisemitic
violence across France related to the 2000 outbreak of the Second intifada”.

He added, “the BNVCA was born at a time that the authorities, law enforcement, media and even the Jewish community were in denial regarding the new antisemitism emanating from the Middle East – though the number of incidents was growing daily”.

“The attack on Ghozlan’s car cannot be considered personal. It is a warning to the Jews of France and to other victims of hate crimes. The Wiesenthal Centre, on behalf of its French associate – the BNVCA – calls upon the Government to announce a zero tolerance policy for incitement and to take preventive measures,” concluded Samuels.

Buenos Aires, 10 May 2010

León Grzmot,of "Sherit Hapleita Organization of Holocaust Survivors", described Eichmann’s profile and warned of the dangers of indifference to contemporary hate.

Paris, 27 April 2010

In a letter to the Russian Prosecutor-General, Chaika Yuri Yakovlevich, the Simon Wiesenthal Centre's Director for International Relations, Dr.Shimon Samuels, protested a virulently anitisemitic campaign against the singer and entry of the Russian Federation to the forthcoming, 29 May, Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo.

Samuels pointed out that he "had just returned from a remarkable conference on 'The Lessons of the Second World War – Sixty Five Years Later', co-organized by our Centre and the State University of St. Petersburg, with the support of the St.Petersburg Government and the auspices of UNESCO".

St. Petersburg, 24 April 2010
